Showcasing the achievements of the Clusters Identification and Enterprise Development Program under KPEC Project

Peshawar: Khyber Pass Economic Corridor (KPEC) has organized workshop to appraise stakeholders about the achievements under Enterprise Skill Development trainings for the businesses from Khyber and Peshawar.

Diagnostic Study of Clusters and Enterprise Development Program aims to revolutionize business practices and stimulate economic growth in the Khyber and Peshawar Districts through Khyber Pass Economic Corridor Project (KPEC). This is the first time in the history of entrepreneurial training in the region that the concept of cluster identification has been introduced by the KPEC.

The event was officially inaugurated by the honorable Director General, Sustainable Development Unit Planning & Development Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a formal welcome to the participants. He highlighted the need that all partners shall join and supplement efforts of each other to pursue the implementation of the recommendations of the Post Training Assessment carried out to access the benefits of training on the participating businesses. He also thanked all the participants, cluster associations, businesses, SMEDA, KP TEVTA, ECI and Government functionaries for their participation.  

 

Provincial Chief, SMEDA Mr. Rashid Aman while expressing his fulfillment with achievement of the program, said that this closing ceremony witnessed a vibrant discourse on the identification of key industries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, innovative business strategies, and the bolstering of local enterprises.” I would say that KPEC has done a commendable job by initiating this activity and making businesses competitive and help then become part of global value chain” through E-Commerce, Amazon and other trading platforms.

Project Director Imran Zahoor lauded the tangible outcomes of the initiative, stating that, “The post-assessment results unequivocally demonstrate that businesses are embracing these advancements, leading to a remarkable 36 percent surge in profits” within a mere eight months. This achievement signifies a significant leap forward.” Under Khyber Pass Economic Corridor Project, over five hundred entrepreneurs have undergone rigorous training in Enterprise Development Program. As a result of Diagnostic study to identify and development business clusters in Western Greater Peshawar, 28 clusters identified while over 500 entrepreneurs across prioritized 11 clusters have undergone rigorous training in “Enterprise Development Skills”.

It is also worth mentioning that KPEC has trained 30 Master Trainers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (KP-TEVTA) for future sustainability of the program and internalize Enterprise Skills Development activity in the routine training programs under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa TEVTA.
