Meeting on Finalization of Master Plan for Jamrud and Landikotal Urban Centers

Under the Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur vision for Tourism in Khyber Pakutunkhwa a meeting was held today under the chair of Dr. Abdul Samad, Secretary of the Culture, Tourism, and Archeology Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to finalize the master plan for Jamrud and Landikotal urban centers. The session took place in Peshawar, focusing on strategic development initiatives for the region.  

Mr. Imran Zahoor, Project Director of the Khyber Pass Economic Corridor, presented an overview of proposed tourism and economic activities for both Jamrud and Landikotal. He highlighted key opportunities to enhance local commerce and attract visitors through structured planning.  

Dr. Abdul Samad emphasized the historical significance of Jamrud and Landikotal, their potential as major tourist destinations. He mentioned that Totkham, near Jamrud, serves as a gateway to Central Asia, while Jamrud Fort holds special importance for Sikh pilgrims due to its association with Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Additionally, he pointed out the region's health tourism potential, as many Afghans visit for medical services.  

The Secretary stressed the need for the Khyber Pass Economic Corridor to incorporate historical and cultural aspects into the master plan while ensuring a sustainable business model for long-term viability. The meeting concluded with directives to finalize the plan with a focus on tourism promotion, economic growth, and heritage preservation.
